Crumb is not yet publicly available. If you are testing a prerelease build, include your iPhone model, iOS version, and the screen where the issue occurred. Please do not email private recipe text or App Attest management tokens.
Frequently asked questions
What does Crumb require?
The current release is designed for iOS 26. Some integrations and on-device intelligence depend on eligible hardware or Apple services; Crumb falls back gracefully when they are unavailable.
Why can’t I scan a page?
In Settings, allow Crumb access to Camera or Photos. Use even light, keep the whole page visible, avoid glare, and capture additional pages before reviewing.
Why is a field highlighted?
Crumb marks ingredient details it is less certain about. Tap the line to correct or reparse it. The original ingredient sentence remains available for comparison.
Why did a URL import queue?
Some sites block automated fetching or are temporarily offline. Crumb preserves the request and retries when a connection is available. You can also scan the printed recipe.
Where are my recipes stored?
You choose local-only storage, iCloud, or a Mealie server you configure. Network access is required for iCloud, Mealie, URL imports, and shared links.
How do Apple integrations work?
Reminders and Calendar sync are optional. Timers can use notifications and Live Activities. Spotlight, widgets, Shortcuts, and controls can be disabled in iOS settings.
Can I export my library?
Use Settings → Import & Export to create a JSON-LD or Mealie-compatible export. Keep exported files somewhere you control; Crumb cannot recover a local-only library you delete without a backup.
Are shared links private?
Links are random, unlisted, and expire after 30 days unless revoked earlier. Anyone with the URL can read that recipe. Links are not end-to-end encrypted and should not contain sensitive notes.
Delete or revoke data
Delete a local recipe or library inside Crumb. For iCloud, Mealie, Reminders, or Calendar data, use the corresponding service’s controls. Revoke an active recipe link from its share receipt. If that receipt is unavailable, email design@guhlstudio.com with the exact public share ID.
